Akshay earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Pune, India. His first master’s degree is in Landscape Architecture from Clemson University and his second master’s degree is in Urban Design from the University of Colorado Denver. Akshay is a licensed landscape architect in California and Maryland. He is also a licensed architect in India. Akshay’s native town is fast evolving as an urban conglomerate. He saw old wood-frame houses being dismantled to make way for modern high-rises. From observing these activities, he became interested in learning about the construction of ancient and modern buildings. As the construction site prominently displayed the names of the architects of the new buildings, their handiwork became impressive enough to make him want to become an architect.

Akshay focuses on the relationship between urbanism and landscape architecture. Akshay’s work experience is in the sectors of hospitality, land planning, parks, mixed-use, and urban development. He has built upon his multidisciplinary education in landscape, urban design and architecture. Akshay considers himself fortunate to have worked on projects in Egypt, the Caribbean, Mexico, India, China, Costa Rica, and the United States. Throughout his travels and working on these destinations globally, he has increased his appreciation for diversity awareness and enriched his global development perspectives.

Akshay loves spending time outdoors. He has finished a dozen half marathons, and he enjoys hiking with his wife and two kids.
