PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This 10,000 SF project for South Bay Unified School District was managed by Principal David McCullough. The objective was to provide space for students to rest, to create an easy-to-maintain landscape, and for both to be accomplished on a tight budget. A poetry in gold, the artistic vision was a blend of functionality, aesthetics and economics. The resulting landscape creates a healthy and aesthetically pleasing space for students and faculty.
FEATURES
▪ Space was divided with hardscape and softscape elements
▪ Concrete pavers and picnic tables provide a waiting area with space for students to interact
▪ Flat, gold-colored stone boulders are placed strategically closer to the hardscape area and offer a setting for casual seating
▪ The softscape consists of an undulating earth berm sprinkled with drought-tolerant plants, while much of the existing vegetation was protected
