KEVIN BELAIR, ASLA
Associate
Kevin comes to McCullough by way of the frozen tundra that is known as Minnesota. Born and raised in the Twin Cities, Kevin attended the University of Minnesota where he completed his Master of Landscape Architecture. As a design professional, he embraces a holistic approach that cultivates positive change for people and the environment. Kevin believes good design will challenge the way in which people value, experience, and understand landscapes.
Through professional practice while in the Midwest and a previous stint in San Diego, Kevin brings experience in park design, community development, mixed-use housing, comprehensive plans, and digital visualization. Much of his work has been concentrated to multidisciplinary design firms where he has enjoyed the collaboration of other design professionals. Further, his welcoming personality helps others engage in the design process, which ultimately fosters more inclusive and sustainable projects.
While in graduate school, Kevin developed a strong passion for design visualization. He appreciates its ability to communicate complex ideas to those who might consider themselves design challenged. He says the satisfaction of modeling spaces in 3D is similar to the feeling of completing a Lego set, like when he was a kid.
While not working, Kevin is a girl-dad to two little ladies, plays hockey any chance he gets, and seems to always have a new plant or two that needs to be added to the yard.
A little known fact about Kevin is that he was uniquely picky as a kid – he hated macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, and tomato soup, and still won’t eat them to this day!
