PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Vertex Pharmaceuticals, in conjunction with the team at Alexandria, envisioned a corporate campus in Torrey Pines that took full advantage of panoramic views and the natural environment. The unique characteristics of the Torrey Pines mesa and canyons were emphasized and celebrated with thoughtful connections to the interior laboratories, offices, and communal spaces. Vertex believed their San Diego counterpart would be made distinct if the gardens could be equally as used as the interior. McCullough designed outdoor conference and communal spaces that function like their interior equivalents. In every opportunity, natural features and views were preserved and enhanced, deliberately utilizing contextual materials.
