The Casitas at Rancho Santa Fe are a collection of 13 private residences located just beyond the iconic Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, a historic cornerstone of the community. Reimagined as a neighborhood that balances tradition with contemporary living, the project celebrates the character of Rancho Santa Fe while introducing new opportunities for private retreats and community connection. Each casita offers a unique outdoor space, unified through shared design elements, stone, metals, and curated planting palettes, that reflect the natural beauty and heritage of the area.

The design draws inspiration from nature, with each casita named after a plant such as Jacaranda, Willow, Jasmine, and Fern. Tailored outdoor spaces offer privacy, while two inviting communal areas—the transformed Orchard Park and the expansive Green—provide opportunities for gathering, leisure, and play. Together, these thoughtful spaces create a neighborhood experience that balances individual retreat with a sense of shared belonging.

Collaboration with local partners and stakeholders was essential to the project’s success, from design review with the Rancho Santa Fe Art Jury to careful

coordination with fire safety officials. Every detail, from tree canopy requirements to plant selections, was designed with both safety and beauty in mind. Still in progress, The Casitas at Rancho Santa Fe embody timeless elegance, sustainability, and craftsmanship—establishing a vibrant community rooted in tradition and designed for the future.
