David Contributes to SD Daily Transcript Executive Roundtable
Experts including developers, construction managers, architects, planners and designers met on June 18 to gain insight into San Diego's mixed-use projects-a growing trend in urbanization. Participants included David McCullough, principal and landscape architect; Yehudi Gaffen, founder and CEO of Gafcon; Perry Dealy, president and CEO of Dealy Development; Richard Gustafson, CityMark Development president; Frank Wolden, architect for Skyport Studio; and Michael Stepner, professor at the NewSchool of Architecture + Design.
DAVID'S ROUNDTABLE INSIGHT
"What residents want in a mixed-use development is evolving. The residents of such properties don't want to see what is referred to as a "Texas wrap," in which a building wraps around structured parking. The success of a mixed-use project generally depends on the neighborhood. While mixed-use is a way of life in communities such as Little Italy and North Park, many other communities may not be as receptive."
