Breaking Ground on Student Housing at College of San Mateo
This month, the team at McCullough joined partners, district leaders, and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new 316-bed student housing development at College of San Mateo for the San Mateo County Community College District.
Led by Project Manager Mahalakshmi Balachandran, McCullough’s team is guiding the landscape architecture scope for the project, helping ensure the outdoor environments support connection, wellness, and a strong sense of campus community.
This exciting milestone represents a growing investment in accessible, supportive housing designed to enhance student success, strengthen campus connection, and improve the overall college experience. As community colleges continue to evolve to meet the needs of their students, projects like this play an important role in creating environments where students can live, learn, and thrive.
McCullough is proud to collaborate with HPI Architecture on this impactful project, helping shape outdoor spaces that support community, wellness, and everyday campus life. Through thoughtful landscape architecture and campus planning, the development aims to foster a welcoming residential experience that integrates seamlessly with the existing campus environment.
The groundbreaking celebration brought together project partners and community leaders to mark the official start of construction and recognize the importance of expanding student housing opportunities throughout the region.
We’re honored to be part of a project that will help support future generations of students and look forward to seeing this vision come to life.
