Welcoming Laura to the McCullough Team
We are thrilled to share that Laura Razo, MLA, ASLA, has joined McCullough as a Senior Associate in our Los Angeles office.
Laura's path to landscape architecture started early and close to home. Growing up in Los Angeles communities that did not always have easy access to parks and open space, she learned to value the calm and connection those places create. That appreciation became a career, and over more than two decades it has carried her across an unusually wide range of work, from streetscapes and transit corridors to playgrounds, schools, plazas, trails, and mixed-use development.
What sets Laura apart is the breadth of perspective she brings to every project. She is a first-generation college graduate who earned both her bachelor's and master's in landscape architecture from Cal Poly Pomona, with graduate studies focused on environmental planning, wildfire prevention, water conservation, and regenerative systems. She also spent several years working in environmental compliance, leading teams through the intricacies of CEQA and NEPA documentation. It was there that she discovered a deep love of cultural landscapes and earned recognition meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards as a Cultural Landscape Specialist. That combination of design sensibility and regulatory fluency is rare, and it means Laura understands a project from the first sketch through the realities of seeing it built.
Laura is also a teacher at heart. She has been an instructor in the UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Program since 2010, where she helped build the program's SketchUp curriculum and continues to mentor emerging designers through portfolio reviews and charrettes. That same generosity, the instinct to bring others along, is exactly the spirit we love at McCullough.
We could not be more excited to have Laura on the team and to see the perspective, care, and craft she brings to the places we design together.
